Executive Director – Settlements Transformation (Global Programme Lead)

We are supporting a leading global financial institution in the appointment of an Executive Director to lead a mission-critical, enterprise-wide transformation programme within its Wholesale business.
This is a high-impact role, responsible for driving the strategic transformation of global settlements infrastructure across multiple asset classes, business lines, and geographies.
The Role
You will take ownership of a multi-year global transformation programme focused on modernising post-trade settlements processes, technology architecture, and operating models. Working at the intersection of business, operations, and technology, you will be accountable for delivering complex change across a highly matrixed, international organisation.
This role requires strong programme leadership, exceptional stakeholder management, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into tangible, delivered outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a global settlements transformation programme across multiple workstreams
- Define and drive programme roadmap, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, and timelines
- Establish and manage governance frameworks, including steering committees and senior stakeholder forums
- Collaborate with senior leaders across business, operations, and technology functions globally
- Oversee programme financials, commercial considerations, and vendor relationships
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges across the programme lifecycle
- Drive alignment between strategic objectives and programme execution, ensuring measurable business outcomes
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years’ experience within investment banking or capital markets
- Proven track record leading large-scale, complex transformation programmes within post-trade / settlements environments
- Strong understanding of settlements processes across equities and fixed income, including front-to-back trade lifecycle
- Demonstrated experience delivering global change initiatives across multiple regions and business units
- Ability to operate at Executive Director level, engaging effectively with senior stakeholders across a matrix organisation
- Experience managing large programme budgets and working with external vendors
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities
