Purpose of the Role
To act as a
business support partner to the MD by managing
decision flow, priority discipline, initiative judgment, leadership communication, and organisational pulse, enabling the MD to focus on growth, diversification, and long-term durability.
This role requires
judgment, not just efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
- Decision & Priority Management (Primary)
- Act as first filter for items reaching the MD
- Ensure every item has:
- Clear context
- Decision required (if any)
- Recommendation / options
- Push incomplete or premature items back to owners
- Maintain a decision log:
- What was decided
- Why
- Review timeline
Success Metric
MD receives fewer but higher-quality decisions.
- Initiative & Governance Support (Majority of Role)
- Maintain a simple register of:
- Strategic initiatives
- Diversification efforts
- Key R&D / growth bets
- Track:
- Owner
- Objective
- Review cadence (monthly / quarterly)
- Flag to MD:
- Drift
- Overload
- Zombie initiatives
- Recommend:
Important: EA tracks

- Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate MD interactions with:
- VPs
- Key leaders
- External advisors / partners
- Ensure meetings have:

- Decision or outcome defined
- Capture decisions and commitments, not discussion minutes
- Organisational Pulse & People Judgment (Explicitly Included)
- Act as a quiet observer of organisational health:

- Share synthesised observations with MD periodically:

Skills & Profile (Market-Realistic)
- 6–12 years experience as EA / Chief of Staff / Strategy Office / CEO Office
- Strong written communication and summarisation
- High judgment and business maturity
- Comfortable interacting with senior leadership
- Discretion, confidence, ability to say “no” diplomatically
- Background in consulting, corporate strategy, PMO, or senior EA roles is common
Threshold Requirement in the Job role (additional but not mandatory)
- Exposure to Pharma / R&DLed Organisations (Bonus)
- Change Management Exposure
- Strong Board Communication Skills
- Ability to Run “Micro-Workshops” With Leaders
- Light Legal / Contract Understanding
