About the role

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will lead client-facing workstreams and help deliver ESG solutions across complex real estate portfolios. Core responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of portfolio-level sustainability strategies tailored to investor priorities and regulatory requirements
  • Managing large-scale ESG reporting projects across frameworks such as GRESB, TCFD/IFRS S2, UN PRI, and annual reports
  • Overseeing the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG performance data (energy, carbon, water, waste) across property portfolios to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Monitoring portfolio-wide performance using tools such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and ESG platforms; interpreting outputs to inform strategic advice
  • Supporting compliance with national and local legislation (e.g., benchmarking ordinances, Building Performance Standards)
  • Supporting greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting across scopes 1, 2, and where applicable, scope 3 emissions, in alignment with the GHG Protocol
  • Developing and reviewing sustainability strategy implementation processes (e.g., investment, asset and property management tools and tenant-facing materials) to integrate sustainability across the investment lifecycle
  • Acting as the primary client point of contact—delivering technical insights, project updates, and sustainability recommendations with confidence and clarity
  • Contributing to the refinement of internal best practices and thought leadership on ESG strategy and data monitoring

Required Skills & Qualifications

We are seeking a passionate and experienced sustainability professional with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability consulting, real estate, or management consulting, with a focus on the built environment
  • Proven experience managing large-scale consulting projects to deadline and budget
  • Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms related to energy, carbon, and building performance (e.g., benchmarking ordinances, LEED, ENERGY STAR, local laws)
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks such as GRESB, UN PRI, and annual investor/fund-level reporting
  • Experience with GHG accounting, including an understanding of the GHG Protocol and emissions classification across scopes 1, 2, and 3
  • Experience with energy procurement, utility contract analysis, and cost-saving initiatives
  • Strategic mindset with experience in developing sustainability strategies, policies, and integration tools for real estate investors
  • Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful, actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with energy or ESG data platforms is a plus
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, Sustainability, Real Estate, Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Management)
  • Professional accreditations preferred (e.g., LEED AP, CEM, PMP, WELL AP, or similar)
