Cable Splicer Pre-Apprentice
Vacancies now exist in the Wichita area for Cable Splicer Pre-Apprentices Mon. – Fri., 7:30 to 16:00, wage rate, $29.05


The Cable Splicer Pre-Apprentice supports underground electrical cable installation and maintenance while participating in a structured training program designed to prepare individuals for advancement into an apprentice cable splicer role.


Job Duties and Responsibilities
•    Assist journey-level cable splicers with underground cable splicing and installation work.
•    Follow all safety rules and develop safe work habits at all times.
•    Participate in on-the-job training and required classroom instruction.
•    Demonstrate progress in technical skills, knowledge, and performance.
•    Maintain required training and work records.
•    Work effectively as part of a crew and apply feedback from supervisors.
•    Perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including work at heights and in confined spaces.
 


Qualifications and Requirements
•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Dependable, self-motivated, and eager to learn a skilled trade.
•    Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools.
•    Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in all conditions.
•    Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
•    Ability to meet DOT driving requirements.
•    Willingness and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) when eligible.
•    Strong teamwork, communication skills, and commitment to safety and integrity.


Work Schedule & Program Duration
Work hours generally align with journey-level employees and may vary based on operational needs. The pre-apprenticeship program typically lasts 4–6 months and is contingent on satisfactory performance and training progress.
