The Lead Registered Nurse (RN) will oversee the daily patient throughput by effectively managing staff. They are responsible for daily oversight of clinic flow and performing the duties of an RN in the practice. They collaborate with and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care. The Lead RN reports directly to the Nurse Manager who shall determine the responsibilities of the position. 

As part of the essential functions of this role, the Lead RN:

  • Provides workflow guidance and assists with overseeing the daily operations of Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants
  • Oversees the daily patient throughput through efficiency in rooming and clinical procedures
  • Assist with completing staffing schedules and maintains daily staffing assignments and assures adequate staffing coverage
  • Communicates status of daily operations as well as problems hindering workflow to Nurse Manager in a timely manner
  • Ensures rooms are stocked appropriately and are prepared between patient visits
  • Develops, maintains and holds nursing department staff accountable to training protocols for all positions within Primary & Specialty care


Qualified candidate will have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or a documented plan to complete BSN within NYSED's RN BSN requirement timeframe; a current BCLS certification; one (1) year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in an HIV/AIDS or other infectious disease practice. Candidate must have demonstrated phlebotomy skills. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally and have familiarity with computers and MS software (Outlook, Word) preferred. Candidate must have familiarity with electronic charting system (Medent) preferred; sensitivity toward cultural diversity, people living with HIV/AIDS and lifestyle and addiction issues is essential

 

Job type: Full-time

Required license: Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or a documented plan to complete BSN within NYSED's RN BSN requirement timeframe

Required certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Required experience: Minimum one (1) year experience working in a medical office setting; experience working with HIV/AIDS or other infectious diseases preferred; Phlebotomy skills preferred
