Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced ETL Tester / Data Quality Engineer to validate data integration, transformation, migration, and reporting processes across enterprise data platforms.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of data across source systems, ETL pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and reporting layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, data mappings, source-to-target specifications, and transformation rules.
- Design and execute ETL and data validation test cases.
- Validate data from source systems through staging, transformation, and target layers.
- Perform source-to-target reconciliation and verify data completeness and accuracy.
- Validate ETL transformation logic, business rules, aggregations, calculations, and data mappings.
- Perform database testing using complex SQL queries.
- Validate incremental loads, full loads, historical data loads, and batch processing.
- Test data quality dimensions including completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and integrity.
- Identify duplicate, missing, corrupted, or incorrectly transformed data.
- Validate data migration and reconciliation between legacy and target systems.
- Test ETL jobs for failure handling, restart/recovery, scheduling, dependencies, and exception handling.
- Perform regression testing following changes to ETL pipelines or data models.
- Validate reports and dashboards against underlying databases/data warehouses.
- Log, track, and manage defects through resolution.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, BI teams, and Quality Engineers.
- Support test automation for repetitive data validation and reconciliation activities.
- Prepare test plans, test cases, execution reports, defect reports, and test completion reports.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in ETL/Data Warehouse testing.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, including joins, subqueries, aggregations, CTEs, and data reconciliation queries.
- Strong understanding of ETL concepts, data pipelines, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling.
- Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
- Experience testing ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, IBM DataStage, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or equivalent.
- Understanding of Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Big Data architectures.
- Experience validating APIs, flat files, CSV, JSON, XML, and other data sources.
- Knowledge of data quality and data governance principles.
- Experience with defect/test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of Python for data validation and test automation.
- Experience with automated ETL/data testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Exposure to CI/CD and automated quality gates for data pipelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in ETL, database, or data testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.

- The successful candidate should be able to independently validate complex data pipelines, identify data-quality issues, perform end-to-end reconciliation, and ensure that data delivered to downstream systems and business users is accurate, complete, consistent, and reliable.
