1. JOB PURPOSE:
The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed BOQs, cost estimates, DBR (Design
Basis Reports), rate analysis, and technical specifications for MEP projects across residential,
commercial, retail, industrial, and hospitality sectors.
The role also includes building and maintaining a comprehensive pan-India vendor and material
intelligence database (with makes, technical catalogues, specifications, and state-wise pricing trends)
to support accurate, competitive, and technically compliant estimation.
This position directly impacts project profitability, bid success rate, and technical credibility of A-Square
MEP Consultants.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Estimation & BOQ Preparation
• Prepare detailed BOQs for Electrical, HVAC, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, ELV systems.
• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings (2D / BIM models).
• Prepare rate analysis based on market data and vendor quotations.
• Develop detailed cost estimates (budgetary & tender stage).
• Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising design intent.
• Support pre-bid clarifications and technical-commercial discussions.
B. DBR (Design Basis Report) Preparation
• Prepare project-specific DBR aligned with NBC, IS codes, CPWD, client standards.
• Define system design parameters, assumptions, and material specifications.
• Coordinate with design team for load calculations & system sizing inputs.
• Ensure DBR aligns with BOQ and tender submission documents.
C. Vendor & Material Intelligence Development
• Identify and onboard vendors across different states of India.
• Develop and maintain a categorized vendor database:
o Electrical vendors (cables, panels, transformers, lighting, etc.)
o HVAC vendors (chillers, VRF, AHUs, ducting, insulation, etc.)
o Plumbing vendors (pipes, fixtures, pumps, valves, etc.)
o Fire fighting vendors (pumps, sprinklers, hydrants, detectors, etc.)
• Collect:
o Technical brochures
o Product catalogues
o Technical data sheets
o Compliance certificates
o Warranty details
o Price lists (state-wise where applicable)
• Track price trends and update quarterly.
D. Technical Specification Development
• Prepare material specifications aligned with project type.
• Compare multiple makes and suggest technically equivalent alternatives.
• Develop standard specification templates for recurring project types.
• Maintain updated database of approved makes list (AML).
E. Documentation & Database Management
• Develop centralized estimation library:
o Rate analysis sheets
o Vendor database (state-wise)
o Standard BOQ templates
o Standard DBR templates
• Maintain digital documentation system (organized & searchable).
• Support proposal team during submission deadlines.
F. Coordination & Commercial Support
• Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, and client teams for missing inputs.
• Support business development in preparing techno-commercial proposals.
• Assist in negotiation strategy with cost benchmarking.

• DBRs aligned with relevant codes and client requirements.
• Zero major technical deviation during review stage.
KRA 3 – Vendor & Market Intelligence Database• Comprehensive vendor list across minimum 10+ major Indian states.
• Updated price benchmarking database every quarter.
KRA 4 – Standardization & Documentation
• Creation of standard templates for:
o BOQ
o DBR
o Technical specifications
o Rate analysis sheets
KRA 5 – Support to Business Growth
• Improve bid competitiveness.
• Reduce estimation turnaround time.
• Improve proposal quality.
5. Required Qualifications
• B.E / B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil (MEP exposure mandatory)
• 4–8 years of experience in MEP estimation.
• Strong understanding of IS codes, NBC, CPWD standards.
• Experience in multi-sector projects (residential, mall, hospital, retail, etc.)
• Strong Excel skills (rate analysis & cost modeling).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, basic BIM understanding preferred.
• Exposure to ERP / estimation software preferred.
