Overview
The Estimation Engineer (Automation) - Electrical plays a crucial role in the planning and budgeting phases of electrical automation projects. This position aims to accurately assess project costs, resources, and timelines to ensure successful project execution and financial viability. The role requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver precise estimates for a variety of electrical automation systems and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for electrical automation projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to determine overall project requirements.
- Prepare and maintain an organized database of pricing information, labor rates, and equipment costs for future reference.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to gather required technical input and verify the adequacy of estimates.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for cost overruns or project delays.
- Conduct value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Present detailed estimates and proposals to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and innovations in electrical automation technology.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools specific to electrical automation.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and automation technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical installations.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in estimating or project management (e.g., AACE, PMP) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimation within the electrical or automation sectors.
