Engagement Type: Permanent /Full-time
Role Overview
As a EPIC Developer, you will lead the design and development of critical connectors between our Epic EHR environment and global communication platforms (Genesys, Zoom, NICE). Beyond traditional Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), you will architect the data access layer that allows AI Agents to interact with clinical and operational healthcare workflows in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
- CTI Connector Development: Design, build, and maintain robust integrations between Epic Hyperspace/Cheers and CTI platforms (Genesys, Zoom, NICE) to enable screen-pops, click-to-dial, and context-aware call routing.
- AI Agent Data Enablement: Build secure, high-speed data connectors that allow AI Agents to query and act upon Epic data (scheduling, clinical history, and billing) using FHIR and Web Services.
- Workflow Mapping: Translate complex healthcare workflows (e.g., patient intake, nurse triage, and discharge planning) into technical logic for automated voice and digital agents.
- Interoperability Standards: Develop and manage HL7 v2 interfaces and SMART-on-FHIR apps to ensure seamless data flow across the healthcare ecosystem.
- Epic Bridges Management: Configure and monitor interface queues in Epic Bridges, troubleshooting message failures and performance bottlenecks.
- AI Integration: Collaborate with AI engineers to ensure that "Agentic AI" can perform actions within Epic (e.g., updating an appointment or filing a note) via secure API calls.
Technical Qualifications
- Epic Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Epic Bridges, Interconnect, and App Orchard/Showroom services.
- Communication Platforms: Proven experience building connectors for Genesys Cloud, NICE CXone, or Zoom Phone/Contact Center.
- Data Languages: Mastery of FHIR (R4/STU3), HL7, and RESTful APIs. Proficiency in MUMPS (Caché) is a significant plus.
- AI Knowledge: Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and how to provide LLMs with structured EHR data for clinical reasoning.
- Programming: Strong experience in Python, Node.js, or C# for building middleware and custom API connectors.
Functional Requirements
- Clinical Workflow Knowledge: Deep understanding of Patient Access, Cadence (Scheduling), EpicCare Ambulatory, and Revenue Cycle workflows.
- Security & Compliance: Expert-level knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and SOC 2 requirements for handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Integration Patterns: Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth2, and embedding third-party apps within the Epic Hyperspace UI.
Preferred Certifications
- Epic Bridges (Highly Preferred)
- Epic Interconnect or App Orchard Developer status
- HL7 Core Concepts or FHIR Proficiency
