JOB DUTIES
- Provide care to residents in all aspects of personal care and hygiene; keep each resident clean, well-groomed and as comfortable as possible.
- Assist residents with their ADLs (activities of daily living), such as
transfers, bathing, hygiene, grooming, toileting, etc.; encourage self-help and independence whenever
possible.
- Assist professional staff in rendering treatments and examining
residents in isolation, dying or deceased.
- Assist in arranging transportation, reminding residents of appointments, accompanying residents
to appointments or programs as needed.
- Assist residents in
preparing for medical tests (i.e. lab work, x-ray, therapy, etc.) and collect
specimens as instructed.
- Participate
in the development and implementation of residents’ Care Plans.
- Answer all call bells promptly.
- Maintain residents' privacy and confidentiality; ensure that all residents are treated fairly
and with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Report
all resident changes in condition or unusual findings as well as incidents and accidents promptly to
the nurse on duty.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have an active NJ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and must maintain active certification.
- Must have
a high school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Possess
effective interpersonal skills in working with residents, co- workers, families
and various health professionals.
- Be
adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies.
- Ability to work independently and problem solve with minimal supervision.
- Must have
an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lift, move and carry supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to pass the facility’s physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
This is a Full-Time (40 hours) hourly position paying $25.75/HR based at The Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. Shifts include 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm and working every other weekend. The successful candidate must be able to cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including holidays, and should be available to cover vacations/call outs of other Certified Nursing Assistants on occasion.
