We are looking for a proactive and technically sound Engineering Purchase Manager who can manage procurement for engineering, projects, utilities, and plant operations across multiple locations.
Role Overview
The Engineering Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing procurement of:
- Plant machinery
- Engineering spares
- Utilities equipment
- Project materials
- Maintenance consumables
- Capex-related purchases
The role requires strong technical understanding, negotiation capability, vendor development skills, and the ability to support ongoing expansion and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Technical Procurement
- Handle procurement of:
- Plant machinery
- Electrical items
- Mechanical spares
- Utility equipment
- Fabrication materials
- Maintenance consumables
- Ensure timely availability of engineering materials to avoid downtime
2. Project Procurement
- Support greenfield and brownfield expansion projects
- Coordinate procurement for:
- Civil work materials
- Machinery and utilities
- Installation-related requirements
- Track project purchase timelines and delivery schedules
3. Vendor Development & Management
- Identify and develop reliable vendors across India
- Conduct vendor evaluations and comparisons
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules
- Build alternate vendor sources to reduce dependency risks
4. Cost Optimization
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
- Standardize engineering consumables and spares
- Improve procurement efficiency and reduce emergency purchases
5. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Work closely with:
- Engineering
- Maintenance
- Production
- Projects
- Stores
- Finance
- Ensure smooth material planning and inventory control
6. Inventory & Stores Coordination
- Monitor stock levels of critical engineering spares
- Support inventory optimization and minimum stock planning
- Avoid excess inventory and stock-outs
7. Documentation & Systems
- Maintain proper purchase documentation and approvals
- Ensure PO tracking and vendor follow-ups
- Support ERP-based procurement systems and MIS reporting
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience
- 6–12 years of experience in:
- Engineering procurement
- Project procurement
- Plant purchase
- Experience in:
- Food processing
- FMCG
- Manufacturing
- Packaging industry preferred
- Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial preferred)
- Additional qualification in supply chain/purchase management is an advantage
Key Skills Required
