Remote | Full-time Contractor | US Health IT Company
Lead a distributed engineering team building EHR integrations and SaaS products for US hospitals, clinics, and B2B clients. OrbitLink Technologies is a US-based Health IT agency delivering Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth integrations alongside a growing SaaS portfolio. You'll own engineering delivery, grow the team, and partner directly with the founder. This role is built for someone who has deep hands-on experience in US Health IT - not just engineering leadership, but real clinical data exchange and EHR integration work.
What You'll Do
- Own delivery across client EHR integration engagements, SaaS products (B2B and consumer), and non-healthcare engineering projects.
- Manage 4 engineers across multiple time zones - 1:1s, performance reviews, growth plans, hiring, onboarding.
- Partner with the founder on roadmaps, architecture decisions, and sprint-level execution.
- Set and enforce code review standards, Git workflows, testing rigor, and documentation practices.
- Operate engineering within SOC 2 controls and support HIPAA compliance across client and product work.
- Oversee integrations touching Epic, Cerner (Oracle Health), Athenahealth, and FHIR-based exchanges.
What You Need
- 8+ years in software engineering.
- 4+ years managing engineers, 2+ years with remote/distributed teams.
- IC engineering background - you still read PRs, debug production issues, and architect systems.
- Direct experience delivering US Health IT projects: EHR/EMR integrations, FHIR, HL7 v2, or clinical data exchange.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major EHR ecosystem (Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, Athenahealth, MEDITECH, or similar).
- Working knowledge of SOC 2 and HIPAA in an engineering context.
- Strong with modern web/cloud stacks, CI/CD, and Git workflows.
Nice to Have
- Experience shipping B2B SaaS products end-to-end.
- Background with healthcare terminologies (RxNorm, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, LOINC) or interoperability frameworks (TEFCA, USCDI).
- Prior experience converting consulting/agency engagements into productized SaaS offerings.
- Open-source contributions in Health IT or interoperability.
Details
- Fully remote
- Schedule flexibility based on team time zones and US client engagements
