Position Summary
Lead MEP engineering for complex aviation projects, coordinating designers, consultants, trade partners, vendors, commissioning teams, clients and internal stakeholders to drive technical decisions, manage risk and support safe, high-quality delivery. This is a leadership-through-influence role with significant independence from the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Communication
- Lead through influence across designers, consultants, trade partners, vendors, commissioning teams, clients and internal stakeholders who may not report to the role.
- Lead effective MEP coordination meetings, establish decisions, actions and owners, and drive issues through closure.
- Manage the majority of MEP engineering issues to resolution and communicate technical risks, options and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
MEP Engineering & Aviation Systems
- Lead coordination of HVAC, electrical power, lighting, plumbing, fire protection, controls and related building systems.
- Lead BIM/VDC-supported multidisciplinary coordination and identify design gaps, system conflicts and constructability risks early.
- Coordinate MEP systems with aviation infrastructure and operational requirements, including utilities, shutdowns, cutovers and active-facility interfaces where applicable.
Procurement, Project Controls & Quality
- Manage major MEP procurement and long-lead equipment tracking against project schedule requirements.
- Manage engineering activities, budget/change responsibilities and schedule risks; support forecasting, project controls and constraint removal.
- Lead MEP constructability and quality planning with the Project Superintendent and coordinate first-in-place, testing and commissioning readiness.
Team Development
- Manage the Project Engineer function for assigned MEP scopes and coach staff in coordination, procurement, BIM/VDC, project controls, commercial awareness and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline preferred.
- Relevant experience managing MEP engineering or construction on complex projects; aviation/airport experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, constructability and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary stakeholders and drive decisions without relying on direct reporting authority.
- Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English, including leading meetings and producing technically precise RFIs, change correspondence and other project records.
- Proficiency with BIM/VDC and relevant construction management and engineering systems.
