Role Description The Engineering Manager – Data is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chennai Area. This role is responsible for leading data engineering teams that design, build, and operate scalable data platforms and pipelines supporting AI and analytics initiatives. The Engineering Manager will oversee technical delivery, align data solutions with product and business priorities, and ensure high standards of data quality, reliability, and security. Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring and coaching engineers, setting technical direction, reviewing architecture and code, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders such as product managers, data scientists, and cloud platform teams. The role also involves resource planning, process improvements, and contributing to best practices that support Altimetrik’s AI-native engineering culture.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong data engineering skills, including experience with modern data platforms, data warehousing/lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, and batch/stream processing.
- Candidates should possess solid software engineering skills, such as proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala), version control, testing practices, and code review processes.
- Candidates should possess cloud and DevOps-related skills, including familiarity with major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/observability tools.
- Candidates should possess leadership and people management skills, including team building, performance management, coaching, and the ability to guide technical and career growth.
- Candidates should possess communication and stakeholder management skills, including clear written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Beneficial qualifications include experience working in AI/ML or advanced analytics environments, familiarity with AI data governance and compliance practices, and prior work in large-scale, enterprise-grade systems.
