About the role
Orvica is building modern software and AI systems for clinics and hospitals in India. We are looking for a highly capable founding engineering lead to own the technical foundation of the company from day one.
As the first engineering hire, you will turn product direction into working systems across frontend, backend, database, infrastructure, integrations, and AI-assisted development workflows. This role requires strong technical judgment, speed, ownership, and comfort operating in an early-stage environment.
What you will do
- Own end-to-end technical development of Orvica’s product stack
- Build and ship full-stack web applications across product modules, internal tools, and workflow systems
- Lead architecture across frontend, backend, database, integrations, infrastructure, security, and deployment
- Work closely with the founder to translate healthcare workflows into practical product systems
- Build high-quality frontend systems in React
- Build backend systems, APIs, and workflow logic in Python
- Design and manage reliable, high-performance systems in PostgreSQL
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure and deployments on AWS
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively across building, testing, debugging, and documentation
- Work with and around Lovable where relevant, while knowing when to move into custom engineering systems
- Establish strong engineering practices across code quality, testing, versioning, and maintainability
- Help shape future technical standards, hiring, and system scalability
What we are looking for
- Strong full-stack engineering ability with end-to-end ownership
- Strong hands-on expertise in React, PostgreSQL, AWS, Git and Python
- Ability to build robust production-grade systems across frontend, backend, database, and infrastructure
- Strong experience with APIs, authentication, business logic, workflows, and system integrations
- High fluency with AI-assisted development workflows and good judgment in using them
- Comfort working in fast-moving environments and with tools like Lovable
- Strong product sense and architectural judgment
- Ability to move between speed and rigor depending on context
- Strong debugging skills, clear communication, and high ownership
- Comfort being the first engineering hire in an early-stage startup
Strongly preferred
- 2+ years experience as an early engineer or technical lead at a startup or product company
- Experience building B2B SaaS, internal tools, ops software, or workflow systems
- Exposure to LLM workflows, retrieval, automation, or agentic systems
- Experience with production deployments on AWS
- Familiarity with role-based systems, auditability, privacy, and operational software requirements
- Familiarity with healthcare or other operations-heavy environments
- Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
