Focus of the Role
The Engineering Delivery Manager leads multiple high performing cross functional engineering teams to deliver secure, high quality, maintainable and scalable digital products. The role ensures engineering excellence, technical health of assets, delivery leadership, agile, lean and flow based delivery and alignment to organisational architecture, security and product goals.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to offshore software engineering teams to maximise
their productivity, engagement, and capability.
- Maintain and uplift software engineering standards, practices, tooling and governance across
teams.
- Ensure applications and digital assets remain secure, scalable, performant, cost, technically viable.
- Delivery Planning, dependency management, risk reduction, resource planning and alignment of engineering capacity to business priorities.
- In partnership with the Product Owner define independent slices of value that make up the product backlog, prioritised by customer value, documented in a way that allows delivery squads to clearly understand what is needed, why, and how success will be measured
- Work collaboratively with product, architecture, operations, security, and vendor partners to ensure smooth and predictable delivery.
- Enable agile, lean, and flow based ways of working to improve delivery speed, quality and customer outcomes. Removes impediments and team blockers.
- Help lead and deliver Engineering wide initiatives
People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach and mentor 10- 15 technical staff. Conduct regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, performance reviews and development plans.
- Work closely managing vendors and service providers technical and delivery performance
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- An active and leading participant in communities of practice/guilds and other sharing and learning sessions - Recruit, onboard and develop new engineering talent.
Technical Leadership & Engineering Standards
- Maintain and uplift engineering standards (coding, testing, CI/CD, security, architecture alignment, automation). - Ensure applications are stable, secure, performant and technically sound.
- Champion DevOps, automation, observability, and modern engineering practices.
- Ensure compliance with security, audit, and quality requirements.
Delivery Support & Continuous Flow
- Support delivery leads, iteration managers & business analysts in planning, estimating, sequencing and prioritising work.
- Identify and manage cross-team dependencies, risks, issues, and impediments.
- Encourage flow-based continuous delivery.
- Support team in production releases and coordination
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in delivery processes, tooling, and collaboration.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with Product Managers, Architects, Operations, Security, Vendors, Business Stakeholders and Digital Leadership.
- Engage stakeholders regularly to communicate progress, risks, decisions, and outcomes.
- Ensure engineering decisions balance feasibility, viability, and sustainability.
Asset Health, Operations & Platform Stability
- Ensure SLAs, reliability, monitoring, alerting, and on-call processes.
- Oversee technical debt management, refactoring plans, patching and updates.
- Ensure cost optimisation and environment stability.
Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to engineering strategy, architecture roadmaps, talent planning and capability uplift.
- Support budget forecasting, resource planning and vendor engagement.

Business & Stakeholder ManagementTranslate technical concepts into business language.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications / Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related discipline.
- 10+ years in software engineering, 2+ years as a Solution Designer or software architect with 3-5+ years in engineering leadership.
- Experience leading cross functional teams. Strong Agile experience.
Preferred
Cloud Certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP). Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe).
