Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Kolkata, with a mix of on-site responsibilities and some work-from-home flexibility. The Engineering and Commissioning professional for BOF & BF gas cleaning plants will design and develop process and mechanical concepts, including equipment selection, layout, and integration with steel plant utilities and existing systems. Day-to-day tasks include preparing engineering documentation, P&IDs, technical specifications, and calculations; coordinating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients; and supporting project planning and scheduling. The role involves supervising installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities on site, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and performance standards. The individual will analyze system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, optimize gas cleaning processes, and contribute to continuous improvement and compliance with relevant regulations and industry norms.
Qualifications
- Strong background in process and mechanical engineering for BOF/BF gas cleaning or similar industrial gas handling systems, including equipment design, selection, and layout.
- Experience with plant engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and documentation for large industrial projects.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., CAD for plant layout, process simulation or calculation tools, MS Office for reporting and documentation).
- Hands-on experience in site supervision, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of process or utility systems, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and emission standards applicable to gas cleaning plants and heavy industry, with the ability to implement best practices on site.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with clients, internal project teams, vendors, and contractors, including clear reporting and documentation.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setup from Kolkata, with readiness for regular on-site presence and occasional travel to project locations as required.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related discipline), or equivalent relevant professional experience.
