Role: Civil Tendering Estimation
(Electrical Substation Projects India)
Job Purpose
Responsible for civil quantity take-off, cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and tendering activities for electrical substation projects, ensuring accurate pricing, competitive bids, and compliance with technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Tendering Estimation
- Study and analyze tender documents, drawings, technical specifications, and scope of work for electrical substation civil works.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil works including foundations, control rooms, cable trenches, roads, drainage, fencing, and allied works.
- Perform quantity take-off from GFC / tender drawings.
- Prepare BOQs, rate analysis, cost break-ups, and price schedules.
- Coordinate with electrical, procurement, and planning teams for inputs and clarifications.
- Float enquiries and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotations.
- Assist in bid submission, technical clarifications, and post-bid negotiations.
- Cost Control Planning
- Develop cost comparison statements (CCS) and recommend optimum options.
- Maintain cost databases, standard rates, and productivity norms.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality and safety.
- Coordination Documentation
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal departments for clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with IS codes, CPWD/State PWD norms, and project specifications.
- Prepare tender-related documentation, reports, and presentations.
Scope of Civil Works (Substation)
- Equipment foundations (transformers, reactors, gantries, structures)
- Control room / relay room buildings
- Cable trenches, ducts, and RCC covers
- Roads, pavements, storm water drainage
- Boundary walls, fencing, gates
- Fire protection pits, oil soak pits
- Earthwork, PCC, RCC, masonry, finishing works
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in civil estimation tendering
- Mandatory exposure to Electrical Substation / Power / EPC projects
Key Skills Competencies
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods estimation techniques
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation tools
- Understanding of substation layouts and equipment foundations
- Good analytical, negotiation, and documentation skills
- Ability to work under tight tender deadlines
