Role Summary
The L1 Network & Security Operations Engineer (Resident Engineer) or Remote support to clients from Office to provide first-level network and security operational support. The role involves continuous monitoring, incident handling, and coordination with internal teams and OEM/TAC while ensuring adherence to SLAs, SOPs, and customer operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Network Operations
- Monitor and support onsite network infrastructure including Firewalls, Routers, Switches, and SD-WAN devices.
- Perform first-level troubleshooting for LAN, WAN, Internet, VPN, and P2P connectivity issues.
- Validate interface status, routing, NAT, and basic firewall rules as per approved procedures.
- Coordinate with ISPs and service providers for link issues and outages.
- Perform basic configuration checks and post-change validations under supervision.
Security Operations
- Monitor security logs, alerts, and events from firewalls, VPN gateways, and SIEM platforms.
- Perform initial analysis of security alerts and escalate incidents as per severity matrix.
- Support VPN user issues (GlobalProtect / SSL VPN / IPSec).
- Ensure security policies are enforced and report any deviations or anomalies.
- Assist L2/L3 teams during security incidents by providing logs and onsite support.
Incident & Ticket Management
- Act as the primary onsite point of contact for network and security incidents.
- Log, update, and track incidents and service requests in the ticketing system.
- Perform initial troubleshooting and resolution within defined SLAs.
- Escalate issues to L2/L3 teams and OEM/TAC with complete diagnostics.
- Participate in incident bridge calls and provide real-time onsite updates.
Onsite & Operational Support
- Perform routine health checks and physical verification of network/security devices.
- Support planned maintenance, downtime activities, and change implementations.
- Maintain shift handover documents, daily status reports, and operational logs.
- Coordinate with customer IT teams and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with customer policies, security standards, and access controls.

Required Skills & Knowledge
Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals of TCP/IP, OSI model, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and routing.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of firewall platforms (Palo Alto / Fortinet / Check Point).
- Understanding of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN).
- Familiarity with SD-WAN concepts is an advantage.
- Exposure to monitoring and SIEM tools is preferred.
Tools & Platforms
- Network and security monitoring tools.
- Log analysis and troubleshooting utilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in Network / Security Operations.
- Freshers with strong networking and security fundamentals may be considered.
- Certifications preferred:
- CCNA / Network+
- Palo Alto PCNSE
