Engineer / Senior Engineer – Mechanical Design –
Location: Hyderabad
Company: A start-up power-infrastructure company focused on critical electrical grid equipment, particularly transformers and switchgear.
Experience: Junior Engineer – Up to 10 years | Senior Engineer – 15–20 years
Role Overview
We are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers with hands-on experience in the design of large power transformers rated 230 kV and above, with target voltage experience up to 765 kV.
The role will focus on mechanical design of transformer tanks/bodies, external components, accessories, active parts, magnetic circuits and internal arrangements/installation design.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical design of large power transformers – 230 kV to 765 kV.
- Design of transformer body/tank, covers, external components and accessories.
- Mechanical design and detailing of active parts and internal transformer arrangements.
- Design and integration of magnetic circuits and internal components.
- Develop installation arrangements for internal transformer components.
- Carry out mechanical calculations related to structural strength, pressure, loading, transportation and seismic requirements, as applicable.
- Prepare and review GA drawings, fabrication drawings and design documentation.
- Coordinate with electrical design, manufacturing, testing and quality teams.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant IEC/IS/IEEE/BIS standards and customer specifications.
Key Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on mechanical design experience in large power transformers rated 230 kV and above is mandatory.
- Strong experience in transformer tank/body, internal components, accessories and active part mechanical design.
- Experience with 230/400/500/765 kV transformer applications preferred.
- Good understanding of transformer manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
- Candidates from large power transformer manufacturers/OEMs are required.
Experience
Junior Engineer: Up to 10 years of relevant experience in large power transformer mechanical design.
Senior Engineer: 15–20 years of relevant experience, with the ability to independently handle complex mechanical design assignments for 230–765 kV large power transformers and guide junior engineers.
