Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Engineer II - BFF & Microservices to design, build, and scale high‑performance backend systems and APIs. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in
.NET, C#, microservices architecture, and
cloud‑native development on AWS, with hands-on experience deploying and operating services using
EKS and Kubernetes.
This role includes designing
Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) APIs tailored for
mobile, web, and desktop applications, using
REST and gRPC, backed by
PostgreSQL, while contributing to architecture and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using C# and .NET
- Build and evolve microservices-based architectures
- Design and implement Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) APIs optimized for:
- Mobile applications
- Web applications
- Desktop clients
- Create RESTful and gRPC APIs aligned with client-specific needs and performance constraints
- Act as an integration layer between frontend applications and downstream microservices
- Aggregate, tailor, and optimize API responses for frontend consumption
- Develop and manage schemas and data access layers using PostgreSQL
- Optimize database performance through efficient queries, indexing, and transactions
- Deploy, manage, and monitor services on AWS, using EKS and Kubernetes
- Partner with frontend and mobile teams to define API contracts and data models
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring
- Ensure security, scalability, observability, and reliability across distributed systems
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of backend engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (.NET Core / .NET 6+)
- Proven experience with microservices architecture
- Mandatory: Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and EKS
- Hands-on experience designing Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) APIs
- Strong experience with REST APIs and gRPC services
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL (Postgres) in production:
- Schema design
- Query optimization
- Indexing and migrations
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and fault tolerance
- Experience implementing API security (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect)
- Ability to collaborate closely with frontend (Web/Mobile/Desktop) teams
Preferences
- Experience designing multiple BFF layers for different client types
- Knowledge of API Gateway patterns and client-specific routing
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc.)
- Experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework Core or Dapper
- PostgreSQL high availability, replication, and backup strategies
- Observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture
- Experience in Agile / Scrum environments
- Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience
