Packaging Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Summary
The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and optimisation of packaging solutions to ensure product and environment protection, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop package solutions.
- Support packaging validation through simulated and physical testing methods.
- Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, marketing, procurement, logistics, and suppliers.
- Prepare packaging specifications, drawings, BOMs, and customer-facing instructions.
- Support production and resolve packaging‑related issues as they occur.
- Evaluate packaging materials for performance, recycled content, recyclability, cost, and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, customer requirements, and international/national regulations.
- Support continuous improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. In lieu of a degree, previous work experience may be considered.
- 2–4 years of experience in packaging or manufacturing engineering.
- Basic knowledge of packaging materials (corrugated, plastics, foams, wood, etc.).
- Familiarity with packaging test standards (ISTA, ASTM preferred).
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and documentation practices.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with sustainability initiatives or material reduction.
- Familiarity with SAP/PLM systems and change management.
