Company Description
Quantrace is an innovative space and defense startup dedicated to addressing the critical challenges of orbital security, planetary defense, and space infrastructure. Currently in its ideation phase, Quantrace is focused on understanding how the rapidly evolving space environment will shape surveillance, defense systems, and autonomous coordination over the next decade. By integrating advanced sensing, analysis, and decision-making systems, the company seeks to revolutionize space situational awareness and tackle issues like orbital debris and satellite network intelligence. Through cutting-edge research and system design, Quantrace aims to create meaningful advancements, with a long-term vision to influence planetary defense and space tourism infrastructure.
Role Description
Role: Technical Partner (Simulation & Aerospace Design)
Quantrace is seeking a technical partner to collaborate on early-stage development of space-grade systems, focusing on both device-level simulation and structural design.
Scope of Work:
- Develop high-fidelity 1D/2D simulation models for tandem solar cells under AM0 (space) conditions, including J-V and QE analysis.
- Design a 150W foldable solar panel array for a ~200 kg-class satellite bus.
- Build and validate digital models, including CAD assemblies, structural integrity, and thermal/vibration performance.
Requirements:
- Experience in either TCAD/simulation tools (SCAPS-1D, Silvaco Atlas, Lumerical) or aerospace CAD/analysis tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Ansys).
- Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to work across domains if needed.
- Interest in space and defence systems, with a long-term building mindset.
Nature of Role:
- Early-stage, performance-based collaboration.
- Focused on research, prototyping, and system design.
- Potential transition into a core team role based on outcomes.
Qualifications
- Background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or related fields).
Hands-on experience in either:
- TCAD / device simulation (SCAPS-1D, Silvaco, Lumerical), or
- CAD & structural analysis (SolidWorks, CATIA, Ansys).
- Basic understanding of physics relevant to space systems (semiconductors, structures, or thermals).
- Ability to work independently and handle open-ended problems.
- Strong interest in space and defence technologies.
Preferred (not mandatory):
- Prior projects, simulations, or CAD work (portfolio/sample required).
- Exposure to satellite systems, solar technologies, or simulation workflows.
- Willingness to collaborate long-term in an early-stage setup.
