Job descriptionWe are hiring a
Senior Interconnection Manager who will be based remotely on the East Coast. This role will be responsible for managing interconnection activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on
PJM and MISO markets. The Senior Interconnection Manager will oversee the full interconnection lifecycle, including application preparation and submission, coordination with utilities and RTOs, study review, milestone tracking, financial obligations, and final interconnection agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage consultants, vendors, and internal teams to prepare andsubmitinterconnection applications toPJM and MISO.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with utilities and RTOs (PJM/MISO) throughout the full lifecycle—frominitialapplication, scoping meetings, and study phases through final interconnection agreements.
- Review utility studies, conduct interconnection capacity evaluations, and lead negotiations with utilities/RTOs.
- Oversee all project‑related RTO payments, study deposits, and financial obligations tied to interconnection milestones.
- Manage project interconnection schedules and coordinate with all internal teams to ensuretimelyexecution.
- Analyze transmission lines and conduct siting analysis toidentifyoptimalareas for new project development; manage consultants performing injection studies.
- Track transmission upgrades, queued generation impacts, and planned system improvements to inform portfolio strategy andidentifynew development opportunities.
- Support the M&A team with interconnection due diligence and provide preliminary interconnection upgrade cost estimates.
- Lead and mentor staff, supporting team development, training, and performance management.
- Assistwithinitialsite layout design using AutoCAD,PVCase, and other modeling tools.
- Maintain and expand a strong network of industry consultants, utilities, and RTO contacts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineeringpreferred; other degrees considered based on experience.
- 3+ years of interconnection management experience with utilities and RTOs (PJM/MISO).
- Strong understanding of interconnection processes, tariffs, and RTO procedures.
- Strong workethic, ownership mindset, and collaborative communication style.
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; additionalmodeling software experience is a plus.
