Application/Rollout Engineer Intern for Autonomous Terminal Tractors

We are looking for an application/rollout engineer Intern (full-time/paid internship) who is passionate about deploying complex systems and customer satisfaction. You will join the Operations team and play an important role in commissioning and deploying our autonomous terminal tractors at a clients terminal in the port of Rotterdam. The project is an industry first and about deploying the largest CE-certified fleet of autonomous terminal tractors in one of the most automated terminals in the world.

Your role will involve setting up, commissioning, optimizing, and monitoring our autonomous system in the port environment. You will have full system overview and should be able to simulate the most complex and challenging scenarios. In addition you will help steer the development team to practical solutions as this is needed for guaranteeing high availability and successful operations. You will be part of a team which is in direct contact with and communicating to the customer, representing Embotech.

Responsibilities:

• Roll out the most sophisticated autonomous driving solution in the port of Rotterdam on site

• Participate in building up, commissioning and rollout of our fleet of autonomous terminal tractors on site • Debugging and on-site problem solving

• Reporting test results and issues efficiently and consequently to development and business teams

• Communication towards customer, problem resolution and regular reporting

• Contributing to system definition, configuration and verification through simulation and real-world testing

• Cooperation with product management, software engineers and controls engineers to deliver a well integrated full autonomous driving stack

• Traveling to customers or own testing areas as required

Requirements:

• Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or robotics, or similar

• Experience with real-world deployments, debugging complex systems, working with digital twins

• Comfortable with customer communication

• Willingness to work off-nominal hours (fairly compensated)

• Fluency in spoken and written English

• Familiarity with various programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Rust)

• Self-driven team player with hands-on mentality

• Knowledge of system modelling and analysis techniques

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• B driver’s license for test vehicles training will be provided by Embotech
