Overview
The Embedded Software Intern will work with the Endoscopy Team at HTIC, focusing on developing and optimizing system-level software for embedded Linux platforms. The role involves writing, testing, and debugging applications at the OS and system level, with an emphasis on performance, resource efficiency, and hardware-software integration. The intern will prototype and validate solutions in C/C++ and contribute toward deployment on embedded Linux-based target hardware.
Key Responsibilities (Internship Level)
- Develop and test system-level applications for embedded Linux environments.
- Write and debug code in C/C++ for Linux-based embedded platforms.
- Assist in hardware-software integration including device driver interaction and peripheral interfacing.
- Work with Linux system APIs, processes, threads, and inter-process communication (IPC).
- Perform testing, profiling, and debugging of software modules on target hardware.
- Document code, design decisions, and test results clearly.
What We Are Looking For
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of embedded Linux and system-level programming concepts.
- Understanding of C/C++ programming with a focus on Linux application development.
- Familiarity with Linux internals processes, memory management, file systems, and system calls.
- Knowledge of inter-process communication mechanisms such as sockets, pipes, or shared memory.
- Interest in embedded systems, real-time Linux, and hardware-software co-design.
- Exposure to device drivers, kernel modules, or Yocto/Buildroot is a plus.
- Ability to learn quickly, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Location: IIT Madras Research Park, Tharamani, Chennai.
Duration: 3 Months
Stipend: ₹10,000+ per month
