General Statement of DutiesUnder general supervision this position maintains County Fairground facilities and maintains grounds as assigned. Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from one or more supervisors.
Classification Summary
The principal duties are performed in an outdoor environment which may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards. Ground’s maintenance duties are performed according to established routines and procedures and are repetitive in nature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform the duties of a custodian for the grounds and facilities to include collecting litter and debris.
- Perform general landscaping duties including mowing and trimming
- Maintain work areas and facilities to an appropriate level of cleanliness;
- Report potential safety hazards to Supervisor;
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance County policies, procedures, and safety practices.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Equipment and supplies used in performing grounds maintenance and janitorial duties;
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions for grounds maintenance and cleaning tasks
Ability to:
- Perform grounds maintenance duties using mowers, trimmers and other related equipment;
- Perform janitorial duties as needed;
- Lift and carry 40 pounds safely;
- Work independently or cooperatively as a member of a team to complete work on schedule and according to quality control standards;
Qualifications
- Valid Idaho Driver’s License (or any driving positions)
- Must be 16 years of age or older
Essential Physical Abilities
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively;
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to safely operate equipment;
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate tools, materials and equipment involved in maintenance activities;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in indoor and outdoor conditions, and to perform duties including lifting and moving heavy objects, stooping, reaching, etc.
This position requires up to 19.5 hours per week up to the fair, 40 hours during fair week, and 19.5 hours after.
Early shifts start between 6:00 - 7:00 am to clean and haul trash, then set up for the day's shows.
Late shifts start between 4:00 - 5:00 pm in the afternoon to check trash and move things as required.
This position requires availability for assigned shift, must be available for at least several weeks before the fair, the full week of the fair (July 14th-20th), and the week after for clean up, repairs, etc.
