About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer specializing in Electrical Power Electronics to join our dynamic team at GE Vernova. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and research teams across our electrification, renewables, and power businesses. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute technology and product roadmaps that define the future of electrical and grid technologies. You will play a key role in shaping innovative solutions, fostering strategic collaborations with academic institutions, government agencies, and external partners, and leading disruptive technology initiatives from concept to deployment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the trajectory of energy technology, drive strategic research programs, and contribute to a sustainable energy future.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 18 years of experience. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience deploying electrical systems in business and production environments and leading large-scale projects or teams. Deep domain expertise in electrical systems, grid-scale power electronics, hardware design, simulation, control, and protection is essential. Proven experience in hardware testing, validation, and field implementation of power electronics, along with a strong record of research, publications, and successful R&D proposals, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex programs effectively.
Responsibilities
- Identify electrical and grid technology needs by collaborating with engineering, product, and service leaders across GE Vernova.
- Engage with researchers and external partners to identify emerging technology trends with disruption potential.
- Create and maintain a strategic electrical systems technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Develop and lead research programs focused on high-disruption potential technologies, guiding them from concept to product realization.
- Coordinate with various business units to incorporate disruptive technologies into multi-generational product and technology plans.
- Own and demonstrate new technology developments through lab testing and validation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive the development of comprehensive technology and product roadmaps to ensure strategic competitiveness.
- Lead the electrification, renewables, and power strategy initiatives, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.
- Provide technical leadership on emerging market trends and disruptive innovations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Build and manage a robust portfolio of research programs aligned with the company's strategic goals.
- Collaborate with external partners, government agencies, and academia to advance technological innovation and commercialization.
