Junior Data Analyst/Data Scientist

Job Summary: Electronic Merchant Systems (EMS) is a leading financial technology company specializing in merchant solutions and payment processing. They are seeking a Junior Data Analyst or Data Scientist to focus on risk-related projects and analytics, collaborating with analysts and data engineers to enhance data initiatives across the business. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards to support business visibility and decision-making (with an initial focus on risk) • Build scalable code by integrating multiple data sources to support reporting and analysis • Analyze data to identify trends, success indicators, and performance insights that inform key business decisions • Support the automation and streamlining of manual risk reporting processes to improve efficiency • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data quality and accuracy • Contribute to data governance and data management practices to maintain high standards of data integrity across teams Qualifications: Required: • Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming large and varied datasets, and experience in at least one programming language (Python or R) • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, identify key trends, and generate actionable insights in clear PowerPoint presentations • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality • A proactive and curious mindset, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Preferred: • Prior payments/risk experience preferred
