Job Description: Electrical Technician – PPL Goa
Position Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the plant and offsites. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility by adhering to safety guidelines, minimizing downtime, and delivering high-quality work. The person shall have sound knowledge of electrical equipment and systems and hands-on experience working with them in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety
- Adhere strictly to the safety systems (like work permit, PSMS, LOTO etc.), protocols, and procedures followed by PPL-GU.
- Improve workplace safety by following and carrying out necessary jobs as advised by PPL-GU.
- Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures (LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, etc.).
2. Productivity
- Carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, and project-related electrical work in the department.
- Ensure zero downtime attributed to electrical-related issues through proactive and timely actions.
- Support shutdowns, upgrades, and planned maintenance activities.
3. Quality
- Carry out all assigned jobs with high workmanship quality and in minimum time.
- Follow engineering standards, proper installation practices, and accurate documentation procedures.
4. Cost
- Bring forward ideas and Kaizens that contribute to cost savings in plant operations.
- Execute maintenance work efficiently to optimize resource utilization.
5. Reliability
- Perform planned maintenance and maintain accurate records of equipment history.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements of PPL-GU.
- Support reliability initiatives such as root cause analysis and preventive action implementation.
6. Availability
- Be available to attend plant jobs during odd or extra hours when required.
- Support emergency maintenance needs to restore equipment functionality swiftly.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on electrical maintenance experience in a fertilizer, chemical, petrochemical, or similar industrial plant.
- Strong, practical understanding of electrical systems and equipment, including HT< motors, PCCs, MCCs, VFDs, HT< switchgear, transformers, and control circuits and proven skills in carrying out the maintenance of these equipment
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
- Experience using electrical testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Should be a team player
Working Conditions
- Work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Willingness to work shifts, call-outs, and participate in plant shutdowns.
