Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage (LV) electrical panel design. The ideal candidate will be independently responsible for developing comprehensive power and control schemes (DOL, Star-Delta, VFD, Soft Starter), selection and sizing of LV switchgear components, drafting detailed CAD layouts, and generating accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).
Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
- Schematic & Power Design: Independently design, develop, and verify power and control circuits for Motor Control Centres (MCC), Power Control Centres (PCC), PMCCs, and Distribution Boards (DBs).
- Control Scheme Expertise: Create end-to-end control and power wiring schemes for DOL, Star-Delta, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and Soft Starter motor configurations without supervision.
- Component Selection & Identification: Accurately select and identify LV switchgear and controlgear components (ACBs, MCCBs, MPCBs, Contactors, Overload Relays, Timers, Metering, and Protection Relays) based on load requirements, fault levels, and Type 2 Coordination principles.
- Drafting & Layouts: Draft accurate Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Control Schematics, and Terminal Diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent ECAD drafting tools.
- BOM Generation: Create precise, detailed, and error-free Electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) independently for procurement and manufacturing teams.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant national/international standards (IEC 61439, IS/IEC standards) and client project specifications.
- Cross-Departmental Support: Coordinate with testing, production, and assembly teams on the shop floor to resolve technical queries during panel assembly and testing.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of core design experience in an LV Switchboard / Control Panel manufacturing environment.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- Software Proficiency:
o Highly proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent CAD drafting software.
o Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word) for generating technical documentation.
o (Bonus) Knowledge of EPLAN, ProgeCAD, or 3D Panel software is an added advantage.
• Technical Knowledge:
o Deep understanding of 415V LT Switchgear components (Schneider, Siemens,
ABB, L&T, Legrand, etc.).
o Strong mastery of busbar calculations, wire sizing, thermal management, and
terminal assignments.
o Ability to read and interpret complex customer specification documents and
tender specifications.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical ability, high attention to detail, good problem-solving
skills, and the ability to meet project deadlines independently.
