Position Summary
The scope of this position involves understanding the Product requirements input from customers and convert it into technical specifications, Concept Design using Engineering calculations, Detailed Design using Electrical, Electronics and Controls Engineering knowledge and expertise, Component selections, give direction to design Engineering to convert the design into solid models, assemblies, subassemblies and drawings. Prepare the DFMEA and PFMEA, prepare verification and validation plan and execute it in collaboration with Application Engineer, Root cause analysis and improvement actions when technical challenges in design is faced, work with vendors to get the right components matching with our requirements, Prepare BOM, Coordinate the Design reviews in collaboration with Application Engineer.
Design and Development:
- Convert customer requirements into detailed product designs, specifically for power & control panels, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), circuit diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Perform load calculations and equipment sizing to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the control panel designs.
Verification & Validation:
- Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure the final design meets all specifications and quality standards.
- Create technical specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Coordination & Reviews:
- Lead and coordinate design reviews, ensuring that all team members are aligned and driving the design toward timely completion.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders (engineering teams, vendors, etc.) to maintain project timelines and resolve issues as they arise.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for design issues, including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
- Review and validate vendor drawings to ensure they align with project requirements.
CAD Drafting & Modelling:
- Use AutoCAD for wiring diagram preparation
- Ensure all designs are accurately documented and comply with industry standards and regulations.
Compliance & Regulations:
- Stay updated on relevant certifications, product regulations, and industry standards (e.g., IEC, UL) to ensure designs meet the required certifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements in the design and development process.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (a Master's in Mechatronics is a plus).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in control panel design and related industries such as industrial products, consumer durables, or aviation.
- Hands-on experience with component selection, controls engineering, including control logic preparation and selections.
- Basic experience in programming and embedded software design is an added advantage.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of control systems, automation tools, and related components used in products.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and 2D modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of BOM & BOQ preparation, technical specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead discussions and drive technical decisions.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Basic understanding of root cause analysis and data analytics for continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with certification processes and product regulations.
