Job Summary
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Supervisor will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of all electrical and instrumentation systems within the biomass pellet manufacturing plant. The role requires hands-on experience in LT/HT electrical systems, transformers, PLC-based control systems, motor control centers (MCC), instrumentation, and electrical maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability with safe operations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
" Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all electrical equipment.
" Troubleshoot and rectify faults in LT and HT panels.
" Maintain transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, APFC panels, VFDs, soft starters, and electrical distribution systems.
" Ensure uninterrupted power supply to all plant operations.
" Monitor electrical load balancing and power consumption.
PLC & Automation
" Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC control circuits and I/O faults.
" Identify and rectify control logic and field wiring issues.
" Troubleshoot communication between PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and field instruments.
" Coordinate with automation engineers for PLC program modifications whenever required.
Instrumentation
" Maintain and troubleshoot field instruments including:
o Temperature sensors
o Pressure transmitters
o Level sensors
o Proximity sensors
o Load cells
o Limit switches
o Flow switches
" Perform calibration and functional checks of instrumentation.
Interlock & Control Systems
" Troubleshoot electrical and process interlocks.
" Identify causes of plant trips and emergency shutdowns.
" Verify safety interlocks before commissioning equipment.
" Ensure proper functioning of emergency stop circuits and safety devices.
Cable Installation & Troubleshooting
" Supervise cable laying for HT/LT power and control cables.
" Prepare cable routing plans and ensure proper cable termination.
" Troubleshoot cable faults using appropriate testing equipment.
" Maintain cable schedules and identification records.
Equipment Maintenance
" Maintain motors, gear motors, conveyors, hammer mills, pellet mills, blowers, fans, compressors, pumps, and other process equipment from an electrical perspective.
" Inspect motor insulation, bearings, and electrical connections.
" Perform megger testing and continuity checks.
Safety & Compliance
" Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory regulations.
" Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.
" Ensure proper earthing, panel housekeeping, and electrical safety practices.
" Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Documentation
" Maintain preventive maintenance records and breakdown reports.
" Prepare root cause analysis (RCA) reports for major electrical failures.
" Update electrical drawings and maintenance logs.
" Maintain inventory of electrical spare parts.
Required Qualifications
" Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience
" 5-8 years of hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance
