About the role

Overview:

Candidate will serve as a Manufacturing Representative supporting Groton Operations (Pipe, Steel, Machinist, Paint, Electrical, Facilities, etc.). This position will perform and coordinate surveillances (targeted in-process observations to determine process health and function) for the Groton Operations management team. This position will be required to spend 35-75% of their time on the deck plate supporting management (as needed). The candidate will be required to perform their own in process surveillances in various functional areas. Candidate will provide an open mindset to improving quality on the deckplates.

 

Candidate will support various projects within Operations including but not limited to actions generated from surveillances. Candidate will recommend actions and support trades in completing actions.

 

Responsibilities will include: performing regular surveillances, researching EB procedures to prep for surveillances, scheduling surveillances, maintaining records of surveillances, data mining various EB databases, data entry, supporting Discipline Steering Team’s, working with management to create surveillance topics and focus areas, time study support, compiling surveillance information and monthly assessments, and providing coaching to management on surveillance efforts. 

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum (3) years working in a production/construction environment
  • Candidate must be available for any shift and will be required to support back shift as needed (primarily this is a first shift position). 
  • This is an onsite position.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years in the Electric Boat shipyard or naval/submarine experience preferred
  • 1+ years of experience project coordination
  • 2+ years of experience on the deckplate
  • Experience analyzing, tracking and trending quality data
  • Experience performing in-process quality audits/surveillances
Skills:
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to work independently and support newly developing programs
  • High attention to detail and ability to demonstrate previous experience in performing at a high quality level
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience navigating throughout submarines or submarine modules 
  • Experience interfacing with all levels of management
