Role Description The EHV Design Manager – Renewable Energy Sector Only is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This position is responsible for leading the design and engineering of Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, grid codes, and safety regulations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project requirements, preparing and validating design calculations, overseeing detailed engineering drawings, and coordinating with cross-functional teams such as project management, procurement, and construction. The role involves managing technical documentation, supporting feasibility studies, and providing design input during project planning, installation, and commissioning phases. The EHV Design Manager will also mentor junior engineers, interface with clients and external stakeholders, and drive design optimization for reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in EHV system design for renewable energy projects, including substations, transmission lines, switchyards, and grid interconnection.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering design tools and software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD, AutoCAD, or similar) and ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant national and international standards, grid codes, and safety regulations applicable to high-voltage and renewable energy installations.
- Experience in project coordination, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, construction, and procurement teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced certifications in power systems or renewable energy are an advantage.
- Proven experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in utility-scale solar, wind, or hybrid projects involving EHV infrastructure.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and present design concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team mentoring, workload planning, and quality assurance for design deliverables.
