JOB SUMMARY: Provide regional leadership, technical assistance, and staff development for ESC-20 clients in the area of services related to the Project Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education (AWARE) program. Serve as the designated regional representative for the Texas Education Agency (TEA) coordinator within the Project AWARE leadership team focusing on sustaining and strengthening grant initiatives and ensuring alignment with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Work in collaboration with the lead organization and each partner to support effective Project Aware grant implementation within East Central Independent School District and ESC 20.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge
• Masters degree required from an accredited university; major in school counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, other mental health field, public administration or a related field preferred.
• Valid Texas School Counseling certificate, Mid-management Certification, or another professional licensure of comparable field required.
• Three years of relevant experience.
• Experience with providing direct services in school counseling, social work, licensed professional counseling, or closely related field of service.
• Experience with grant implementation and reporting requirements.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities with the three-tiered model of public health related to mental health service delivery.
• Leadership experience facilitating major projects and producing deliverables related to AWARE goals.
• A growth mindset and experience providing leadership and coaching within an organization through change management processes.
• A passion and demonstrated commitment to implementing evidence-based practices to support student mental health and wellness.
• Extensive knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and school based mental health practices.
• Knowledge of mental health services in public school settings with emphasis in areas of
evidence-based strategies reflecting trauma-informed, mindfulness, self-regulation, resiliency building strategies, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation best practices.

• Ability to analyze and interpret data and use data for student based decision-making.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to facilitate group processes, train and provide technical assistance to school personnel.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with standard functions within applications such as Microsoft 365/Google, (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software), e-mail, web browsers, and databases.
• Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include file and desktop management and operations, and working in a cloud-based and/or networked environment.
• Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES
• Guide the provision of project services to students in designated Local Education Agency (LEA) partner sites.
• Contribute to the completion of a comprehensive needs assessment of the target geographic catchment area.
• Develop an implementation plan for a school-based mental health intervention system based on a three-tiered public health model.
• Promote consistent use of systems for identifying, supporting, and monitoring students’ mental health needs.
• Strengthen systems for prevention, intervention, and postvention related to student mental health.
• Provide implementation coaching to help achieve the project’s goals and objectives.
• Participate in an advisory board for the project.
• Develop a sustainability plan for the project that includes, but is not limited to, changes in policy that support the infrastructure needed to maintain and possibly expand behavioral health services and supports for school-aged youth.
• Establish collaborative relationships with other key community stakeholders.
• Help transfer lessons learned and deliverables produced in the project by engaging the partners to share resources that TEA and ESCs can disseminate for replication in other areas of the state to extend Substance Abuse and Mental health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) investment in the project such as in trainings and on TEA’s school mental health website.
• Invite partners in the project to participate in extra professional development and networking activities available through a Statewide AWARE Texas Professional Learning Network hosted by TEA.
• Serve as a referral source for LEAs for social/emotional issues that need more assistance than brief intervention requiring referral to necessary school-based and/or community mental health, substance use, and co-occurring supports and services.
• Collaborate with the ESC-20 school safety, school counseling, and school health staff to ensure coordination and alignment of services.
• Attend ESC-20 staff trainings and meetings.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY
• Be aware of and follow Center guidelines of allowable costs when recommending use of public funds for expenditures for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer, peripherals, copy machine, phone, etc.
• Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional standing, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
• Lifting: Light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting/carrying (15–50 pounds).
• Environment: This role primarily operates in an in-person, dynamic office setting, characterized by frequent verbal communication, movement, and collaboration among team members (small to large in-person gatherings/meetings); exposure to low or intense illumination; exposure to office equipment noise; may work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent travel; and, occasional remote work (after pre-determined length of employment).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Function within the policies and procedures of ESC-20.
• Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
• Dress and groom appropriately for the ESC-20 work setting.
• Travel independently to fulfill responsibilities of the position with approximately 75 percent of time spent on location within East Central ISD and 25 percent of time at ESC 20.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance, majority in-person/onsite.
• Serve at the will of the Executive Director.
