Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Publications is looking for a passionate and experienced Editor (Trade Books) to join our team in Mumbai.
If you have a deep-rooted interest in Indian culture and a proven track record in the English trade publishing industry, we want to hear from you. We are looking for an individual who can curate and refine manuscripts that reflect the timeless values and diverse intellectual history of India.
The Role
As an Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the editorial process for our English general trade titles. Your focus will span across:
- Indian Culture & History
- Philosophy & Spirituality
- Education & Human Values
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning & Acquisition: Identify and evaluate high-quality manuscripts and proposals aligned with the Bhavan’s vision.
- Developmental Editing: Work closely with authors to structure, refine, and polish narratives for a contemporary audience.
- Project Management: Manage titles from the initial manuscript stage through to final production, ensuring timely delivery and high editorial standards.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience specifically in English trade book publishing.
Expertise: A strong editorial eye with a deep understanding of Indian history, philosophy, and cultural nuances.
Skills: Exceptional command of the English language, meticulous proofreading skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Location: Candidates must be based in Mumbai or willing to relocate.
