Title: EDI Integration Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 6+ Months
Role Overview
Client is seeking experienced EDI Integration Engineers to support and enhance day-to-day EDI operations while also contributing to implementation work, complex issue resolution, and process improvement. These roles require engineers who can operate with speed, depth, and ownership in a high-impact healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate is not only comfortable supporting existing integrations, but can also step into escalations, assist with complex mapping and IBM Sterling Integrator work, and help elevate how the team operates.
Additional Notes:
- EDI standards used ANSI X12 and EDIFACT
- Currently 1,849 interfaces to be migrated
- Conduct a detailed assessment of IDoc changes in S/4HANA and update mappings in PI/PO accordingly
- Perform end-to-end testing of EDI transactions with trading partners
- Working IST time for the execution of the maps (they are copying the maps in SAP and re-doing them in S4 for 50 trading partners, 300+ maps, 1800 interfaces)
- Configure communication ports (AS2, SFTP) and update PI/PO mappings for Specialty Products
Key Responsibilities
EDI Implementation & Support
- Support onboarding of new hospitals, clinics, and customer accounts, including integrations related to acquisitions or rapid expansion
- Configure and support EDI integrations using existing mappings, with the ability to adjust or troubleshoot mappings when needed
- Assist consultants and senior team members with implementation tasks, testing, and go-lives
- Provide fast, accurate resolution for complex or escalated EDI issues
Technical Depth & Troubleshooting
- Perform hands-on work within IBM Sterling Integrator, including SI-heavy troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Diagnose and resolve integration failures, data issues, and trading partner connectivity problems
- Apply strong critical-thinking skills to quickly assess issues and determine root causes
- Support mapping, certifications, and fixes for new or existing trading partners as needed
Operational Ownership
- Work within a Jira ticket queue and/or VIP mailbox while maintaining strong throughput and quality
- Handle work at a pace appropriate for a production healthcare environment with real downstream impact
- Understand how EDI work directly affects hospitals, providers, and patients—and reflect that awareness in quality and urgency
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate clearly and professionally via email and on calls with internal teams and external customers
- Participate in customer calls when needed, particularly for escalations or complex issues
- Partner effectively with consultants and peers to support implementations and ongoing operations
- Contribute ideas and leadership to help improve processes, workflows, and support models over time
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with IBM Sterling Integrator
- Experience supporting or implementing EDI integrations in a production environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to handle complex and escalated issues, not just intake
- Experience with mapping and SI-heavy work, including fast fixes and partner support
- Ability to balance operational support with implementation and project-based work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently with a high level of ownership and accountability
