About the role
This will help you grow:
Tools: Catia/NX
- Design and develop automotive interior and exterior trim components such as Instrument Panel (IP), Door Trims, Consoles, Pillars, Garnishes, Bezels, Front & Rear Bumpers, Radiator Grilles, Claddings, and Wheel Arch Liners.
- Interpret Class A / B / C surface data and convert it into manufacturable plastic part designs.Perform feasibility studies including draft analysis, tooling feasibility, packaging studies, and surrounding part integration.
- Develop concepts and proposals considering OEM standards, regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.Apply DFx principles including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Serviceability.
- Conduct wall thickness checks, rib/boss creation, snap-fit design, parting line reviews, and tolerance stack-up analysis.Support prototype builds, tooling trials, validation activities, and production ramp-up.
- Resolve issues related to fit & finish, gap & flushness, sink marks, and warpage.
- Coordinate with tooling, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Participate in benchmarking studies, design reviews, engineering change management, DFMEA, and DVP activities.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and CAD release data.
This is how you will help us move forward:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or related field.
- Strong experience in automotive interior and exterior trim design and development for passenger vehicles.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 (CATIA V6 will be an added advantage).
- Strong knowledge of plastic part design guidelines and injection molding processes.Understanding of tooling concepts, fixings, materials (ABS, PP, PC-ABS, TPO, etc.), and surface finishes.
- Experience in GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, DFMEA, DVP, and APQP processes.
- Knowledge of Class A surface feasibility and automotive design standards.Understanding of ECE regulations, packaging concepts, and manufacturing feasibility studies.
- Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
