Reporting to Ecopetrol USA Controller, the Accountant will be responsible in principle for the timely processing, recording, analyzing, and reporting of Ecopetrol USA and Subsidiaries’ G&A, including but not limited to payroll, travel expenses, intercompany assessments/billings and other administrative costs.

 Proficiency in the job will require coordination within the finance area, including planning and procurement, as well as other areas of the company such as engineering, field operations, land management, audit, among others.

This position may perform other functions to be defined by management, including special projects as requested.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Recording and reconciliation of payroll and/or benefits for all companies in the Ecopetrol USA group ensuring timely delivery per company’s deadlines.
  • Recording and reconciliation of company’s corporate credit card for all companies in the Ecopetrol USA group ensuring timely delivery per company’s deadlines.
  • Prepare the intercompany allocation of administrative services by the holding company to its subsidiaries, including recording and providing related supporting documents.
  • Serve as the main back-up for the Accounts Payable Accountant when necessary.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and related footnotes by providing relevant information for areas of responsibility.
  • Support management and corporate reporting with G&A related analysis, including but not limited to period variances and fluctuations.
  • Support budget process by providing detail on actual costs for G&A expenditures.
  • Prepare account reconciliation for applicable areas of responsibility with special focus on intercompany.
  • Support the implementation, execution and documentation of accounting procedures, SOX Controls, IT initiatives as related to accounting process and procedures (i.e. SAP).
  • Participate in the annual financial statement audit for G&A related matters.
  • Perform special projects or ad hoc requests as needed.

 

Qualifications

Overall Experience Requirement:

  •  5 or more years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 years’ experience in payroll accounting preferred.
  • Experience in the upstream oil & gas industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IFRS)

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related subject. MBA or CPA is a plus

Language Ability:

  • English, Spanish

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office 365.
  • PBI and SAP working knowledge.
