QUALITY INSPECTOR – ANODIZE DEPARTMENT

Position Overview
The Quality Inspector – Anodize Dept. role serves as a critical quality safeguard, working cross-functionally to ensure that every finished part meets rigorous internal standards and exact customer specifications. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in Type II and Type III Anodizing, a strong understanding of proper racking and masking techniques, and the ability to act as a technical liaison between production and customers. You will partner closely with the Quality Manager to bridge the gap between production execution and quality excellence, ensuring issues are identified early and resolved proactively so we get it right the first time.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspection: Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials and finished parts, identifying surface defects and verifying compliance with specifications.
- Technical Communication: Serve as a proactive liaison across departments; communicate quality concerns internally and, when appropriate, directly with customers to address part condition, racking, or specification issues before production begins.
- Measurement: Utilize precision instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and XRF gauges, to verify coating thickness and critical dimensions.
- Testing & Compliance: Conduct First Article, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with ISO procedures and customer requirements.
- Quality Control: Identify and quarantine non-conforming materials; support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic records, inspection reports, certifications, and correspondence in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements in racking, tooling, workflows, and inspection processes to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and product quality.
- Training & Support: Assist in training team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper handling of parts; ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and properly maintained.
Requirements and Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in an anodizing environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Type II and Type III anodizing processes, including racking, masking, and part preparation techniques.
- Standards & Specifications: Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems; ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and plating requirements.
- Tools & Equipment: Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and XRF thickness gauges.
- Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills; comfortable collaborating with production teams, management, and customers.
- Bilingual Skills: English/Spanish proficiency is highly preferred.
- Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, proficiency with Excel and ERP systems, and a self-driven, accountable work ethic.
- Legal Requirement: Must pass a pre-employment drug test; this is a safety-sensitive position under Minnesota Statute 181.950.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Physical: Ability to stand and walk the production floor for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Environment: Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to chemicals, plating solutions, noise, and moving equipment.
- Safety: Mandatory use of provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
