About the role

Description

Gymnastic Education Teacher (grades K-8)

Description

At The Ecclesial Schools we are expanding access to extraordinary Christian education by creating schools where children enter a rich learning atmosphere and receive a classical Christian curriculum—regardless of financial means. We are looking for joyful and dedicated educators to join the faculty of our growing network of neighborhood schools planted in local churches in the greater Orlando area.

Opportunity

We are looking for talented and dedicated Physical Education teachers (we call them "Gymnastic Education" teachers at The Ecclesial Schools, or GE teachers for short) who love learning and love children. GE teachers bring The Ecclesial Schools' mission and vision to life each day by preparing engaging lessons and learning activities, cultivating a rich classroom atmosphere, building relationships with students and their parents, and committing to growing professionally as part of a faculty of friends. GE teachers have the unique opportunity to train students to become faster, stronger, and more flexible, all with a view toward using their bodies to love and serve their neighbor.  ESI GE teachers will also coordinate and supervise the K-6 athletic clubs, as well as collaborate with the Athletic Director to promote athletics and physical fitness throughout the campus and school community.

The ideal candidate is someone who holds a BA or BS degree, has 3-5 years of experience teaching (preferably in a classical Christian school). We match the district school’s salary level for education and experience. The base starting salary for our teachers in our area is $48,500 ($51,625 for MA), with benefits and matching retirement, professional development, and the opportunity for advancement.

Faculty members receive paid in-service training from experienced academic leaders during onboarding, orientation, and inservice training before the start of school. Throughout the year teachers are supported by academic coaches. Our goal is to ensure that teachers are well prepared and supported as they accomplish their most important mission—providing students with rich and formative classical Christian learning.

Work-life balance is important to us. We create margins in teaching schedules and limit programming outside of school hours. This allows our teachers to invest most of their precious time in planning great lessons. We also seek to create structures and activities that foster collegiality and collaboration. As part of grade-level or curricula area teams that meet across campuses, teachers work on projects that matter both for their own practice and professional growth, but also for the growth of the academic mission of The Ecclesial Schools.

Top Benefits

We have designed The Ecclesial Schools to be a place where children are rooted, known, and loved. We know that begins by creating a school community where teachers feel the same way.

As a faculty member of The Ecclesial Schools, you will enjoy:

  • Being part of an initiative that is transforming access to classical Christian education.
  • Missional work and a positive work environment, with a salary that tracks with the pay scale of local public schools.
  • Teaching children without distractions like on-line grade books, homework assignments, and technology in the classroom.
  • Support from dedicated and skilled school leaders and academic coaches.
  • We offer paid medical benefits (approx. 90% for the employee) and access to supplemental coverages, matching retirement, professional development, and the opportunity for advancement.

Location

The Ecclesial Schools is located in the greater Orlando area, with multiple neighborhood campus locations across the metropolitan area. Central Florida is a young, dynamic, and growing area, with year-round opportunities for enjoying outdoor beauty by hiking, birding, kayaking, fishing or surfing, and for visiting the attractions that make Central Florida an international travel destination.
