CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess a valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with an endorsement to
teach in the area of Health Education and any elective including: Visual Arts Education
(LX or LQ), Communication Arts (AX), Industrial Technology (IX), Business,
Management, Marketing, and Technology (GQ), Educational Technology (NP),
Computer Science (NR), or other certification
2. Previous secondary teaching experience desired but not required
3. Competence and proficiency in the use of instructional technology required; ability to
integrate technology into instruction
4. Knowledge of and commitment to best practices as supported by current research to teach
the District’s adopted curriculum; willingness to attend workshops to strengthen skills
5. Must support and participate in the school’s efforts to create a positive school climate and
promote appropriate student behavior
6. Must support inclusionary classroom practices, be willing to work with special needs
students, special education co-teachers and assigned aides
7. Excellent classroom management skills
8. Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
9. Committed to working in a high profile school and being part of a professional learning
community while teaching the district’s curriculum
10. Willingness to maintain/facilitate frequent conversations/communication with parents
outside of the designated Parent/Teacher conference periods
11. Keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for
teachers
12. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required
13. Effective oral and written communication skills required
14. Desire to coach sports strongly desired
