Description
- Assembles accurate meal trays according to diet orders that are age, content and texture specific including personal patient preferences which meet diet prescriptions. Assists in preparing food for special functions.
- Assembles culturally appropriate age specific and/or texture specific foods for patients which meet recommendations.
- Maintains the work and storage areas in a clean and sanitary condition per state and local regulations.
- Assists with Quality Improvement monitors and completes duties as required to ensure patient and staff meals are produced and served accordingly to schedule and nutritional guidelines. Adheres to infection control and safe food handling policies.
- Teaches new staff principles of patient tray preparation and coordinates the activities of production staff. Reports needed repair to manager for maintenance and safety hazard needs.
- Reports to work as scheduled in clean uniform. Adjust work schedule and assignments in response to patient census changes, employee absenteeism and work volume.
- Supports hospital departmental and interdepartmental team members while meeting organizational and departmental goals.
- Assists with cleaning equipment, storing clean equipment and maintaining sanitation.
- Manages inventory and assists with food orders and storage, utilizes leftovers, maintains expiration dates of foods.
Requirements
BLS required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. High school graduate or equivalent. Formal education in food service, patient care or cooking preferred. Hospital food service experience preferred. Three or more years of patient or cooking experience. Current Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain. possesses excellent initiative and dietary skills.
