Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Production Coordinator is to align production planning with material procurement to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role owns the coordination between production schedules, raw material and component availability.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity.
- Analyze current demand and upcoming orders to prioritize production.
- Communicate production status, risks, and changes to management and related teams.
- Track production performance vs. plan and identify gaps.
- Monitor inventory levels and perform regular checks to ensure material availability, proactively identifying and escalating risks before impacting production.
- Create and process purchase orders to support production requirements.
- Confirm order acknowledgements and delivery timelines with suppliers.
- Coordinate with Logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Support physical inventory counts and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure ERP alignment between inventory, production orders, and purchasing activity.
- Support receiving and verification of materials when needed.
- Maintain and generate reports for production planning, inventory levels, and procurement status.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance workflow, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, documentation standards, and operational procedures.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of production planning and material flow in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of procurement and inventory control principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
- High attention to detail with strong follow-through
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (tracking, reporting, basic analysis)
- Experience working in ERP systems (QuickBooks Enterprise, All Orders, or similar)
- Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar production environments
- Previous experience in production planning, scheduling, or purchasing
- Familiarity with inventory forecasting and demand planning
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma: Further education or certification is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, procurement, or related role preferred
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and walking from one end of the building to the other.
· Able to walk a minimum of 5,000 steps per day.
· Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
