Job Title: BUSINESS OFFICE ASSISTANT
This position supports financial and business operations in collaboration with the Director of Finance. Primary support areas include payroll, benefits, and other related activities. This role enters and verifies payroll data, processes timesheets and contracts, tracks leave time balances, calculates deductions, processes benefit enrollments, prepares retirement and other reports, and supports seasonal projects.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of basic computational principles related to employee compensation
- Experience with, or ability to learn, accounting, state and federal employment regulations, payroll, and other software platforms
- Strong attention to detail and technical skills, including proficiency in email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google-Suite, and other web-based applications
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information, and ensure attention to detail in all aspects of work
- Calm, professional demeanor with children, community members, parents, and staff
- Ability to independently manage several activities at once and prioritize tasks accordingly
- Productive and detail-oriented approach to quality work production and a willingness to take initiative
- Ability to learn new software systems, including the district financial management system, and optimize processes and procedures related to each software tool
- Ability to communicate with and provide support to the buildings, parents, staff, and students
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and expanded responsibilities over time
- Excellent attendance record and a strong work ethic
- Experience related to accounting, payroll, education, or equivalent job-based experience preferred
Essential Functions:
- Ability to process payroll data and maintain accurate payroll information
- Ability to process timesheets, annual contracts, and other special payment arrangements
- Ability to prepare retirement reports and reconciliations, as well as other federal, state and local reports
- Ability to track leave time balances, record usage, and calculate time awarded
- Ability to ensure compliance with all payroll tax entities and remittance of payments
- Ability to accurately track and process employee benefit deductions and tax withholdings
- Ability to coordinate sharing of consistent and accurate information with third parties to pay contracted workers
- Ability to calculate, track, and allocate billing and collection activities
- Ability to support other departments through cross-training, special projects and seasonal needs
- Ability to perform general clerical duties such as copying, scanning, filing, and answering phones
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned

Rate: Competitive rate of pay commensurate with experience and qualifications
Schedule: 260 days, 25 to 40 hours per week as mutually agreed
