Role Description The E-commerce Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Thiruvananthapuram. This role is responsible for managing daily financial transactions related to online sales, including order-to-cash reconciliations, payment gateway reports, and marketplace settlements. The E-commerce Accountant will maintain accurate accounting records, update ledgers, prepare invoices, monitor inventory-related financial entries, and ensure timely recording of expenses and revenues. The role includes preparing periodic financial reports, assisting with budgeting, supporting tax and compliance filings, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners (such as auditors and marketplace representatives) to resolve discrepancies. The individual will also help improve financial processes for e-commerce operations and support management with data-driven insights.
Qualifications
- Strong competency in accounting fundamentals, including bookkeeping, general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with e-commerce finance operations such as payment gateway reconciliation, marketplace payout tracking, and order and refund accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or similar), spreadsheets, and basic data analysis for financial insights.
- Knowledge of local tax regulations, GST, and compliance requirements relevant to e-commerce and retail businesses.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and problem-solving skills in identifying and resolving transaction discrepancies.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant educational background such as a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in e-commerce, retail, or small business accounting is preferred, with an interest in spiritual and lifestyle brands being beneficial.
