Key Duties & Responsibilities of a Duty Medical Officer:
1.Patient Assessment & Treatment
Examine patients in OP, IP, ER, or ICU as required.
Diagnose medical conditions and provide immediate treatment.
2.Emergency Management
Handle medical emergencies, trauma cases, cardiac emergencies, poisoning cases, etc.
Provide first-line treatment and stabilize the patient.
3.Patient Admission & Discharge
Assess patients for admission. Prepare discharge advice as per consultant instructions.
4.Clinical Coordination
Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, lab, pharmacy, and other departments for patient care.
5.Monitoring Inpatients
Review admitted patients regularly.
Monitor vital signs, treatment progress, and complications.
6.Documentation
Maintain patient case sheets, treatment records, medico-legal records, and duty reports accurately.
7.Medical Procedures
Perform basic procedures like IV line insertion, suturing, catheterization, CPR, emergency management, etc.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation knowledge is essential.
8.Medico-Legal Cases
Handle accident cases, poisoning cases, police cases, and maintain proper documentation.
9.Code & Emergency Calls
Attend emergency code calls inside the hospital immediately.
10.Patient/Attender Communication
Explain patient condition and treatment plan when required Duty Medical Officer

Medical Superintendent/ Chief Medical Officer / Hospital Administration
Educational Qualification:
MBBS from a recognized medical college
CompletedCompulsory Rotatory Internship
- Valid registration with National Medical Commission / State Medical Council
