About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Duty Manager – Cinema Operations to oversee the smooth, efficient, and customer-focused operations of the cinema.
The Duty Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations across Box Office, Concessions, Floors, Housekeeping, and other operational areas, while ensuring excellent customer service, operational efficiency, safety, hygiene, compliance, and revenue protection.
The role requires a hands-on leader with strong people-management and operational skills who can independently manage the cinema during a shift and take charge of operations in the absence of the Cinema Manager.
Key ResponsibilitiesCinema Operations
- Supervise day-to-day cinema operations, facilities, employees, and operational costs.
- Ensure smooth functioning of Box Office, Concessions, Floors, Housekeeping, and other operational areas.
- Conduct daily shift briefings and establish clear targets and goals for the team.
- Monitor service quality, customer satisfaction, cleanliness, hygiene, and overall cinema standards.
- Ensure effective manpower deployment and optimum productivity across operational areas.
- Take charge of cinema operations in the absence of the Cinema Manager.
- Ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the shift.
Team & People Management
- Lead, supervise, coach, and motivate Duty Officers and operational teams.
- Monitor employee grooming, discipline, attendance, and performance.
- Prepare weekly manpower rosters for Box Office, Floor, and Concession teams.
- Support employee orientation, on-the-job training, coaching, and performance management.
- Promote a strong team culture with a hands-on approach to operations.
- Ensure optimum staffing and productivity while maintaining manpower costs.
Cash & Revenue Management
- Manage daily cash operations, including floats, cinema imprest, shift banking, and cash reconciliation.
- Ensure strict adherence to cash-handling procedures and internal controls.
- Monitor and control cash shortages, pilferage, and revenue leakages.
- Ensure safe and compliant cash-handling practices at the cinema.
- Maintain effective key-management procedures, including shift opening and closing.
Customer Experience
- Ensure consistently high standards of customer service across all cinema touchpoints.
- Monitor customer feedback and take appropriate corrective action.
- Resolve customer complaints and operational issues effectively and professionally.
- Identify and implement ways to reduce transaction time at Box Office and Concessions.
- Drive a positive customer experience and maintain the brand standards of the cinema.
Food & Beverage Operations
- Monitor Concession operations, product quality, merchandising, and service standards.
- Drive F&B sales through effective merchandising and promotional initiatives.
- Maintain optimum stock levels and participate in weekly inventory activities.
- Monitor operating costs and minimize wastage and revenue leakage.
- Ensure proper product display and availability across concession areas.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, statutory, safety, and company requirements.
- Maintain and update operational records and registers, including:
- Spot Check File
- LAM Files
- Activities File
- Customer Comments Forms
- Ticket Register
- Lost & Found Register
- Complimentary Ticket Register
- Legal & Statutory Registers
- Ensure cinema displays and commercial communications are updated and compliant.
- Coordinate with Programming, Marketing, and other support functions for operational compliance.
- Conduct regular print checks and ensure display and commercial compliance.
Security & External Coordination
- Ensure proper opening and closing of cinema shifts.
- Maintain effective key-management and security procedures.
- Coordinate with local police, government authorities, and statutory bodies whenever required.
- Ensure adherence to company security, safety, and emergency protocols.
- Support effective incident management and escalation whenever required.
Reporting Structure
Reports To: Cinema Manager
Direct Reportees: Duty Officers
Indirect Reportees: GRAs, ESPs, Housekeeping Supervisor, Store Keeper
External Stakeholders: Local Police, Government Authorities & Local Statutory Bodies
Candidate ProfileEducation
- Graduate or Diploma in Hotel Management / Hospitality Management preferred.
Experience
- 3–4 years of experience in a supervisory/operations role, preferably in:
- Cinema / Multiplex Operations
- Hospitality
- Retail
- Food & Beverage
- Customer Service
- Entertainment Operations
