About the role

JOB SUMMARY

Operations Managers are responsible for the performance of the Service Department. They will be accountable for the backlog, inventory, fleet and personnel as well as verifying labor pricing and logistics. As the frontline leader, the Operations Manager will lead the service department to increase its efficiency and profitability, while retaining quality employees and following the company’s policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  1. Managing day-to-day operations of the service department.
  2. Oversee the scheduling and progress of both planned work orders and reactive service calls, ensuring efficient completion and proper assignment of technicians and equipment.
  3. Oversee fleet planning and maintenance, including monitoring Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports to identify maintenance issues and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  4. Manage and execute projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion that meets established standards.
  5. Prepare and manage the department’s budget, ensuring costs are controlled and aligned with company financial goals.
  6. Supervise personnel by ensuring staff are adequately trained, motivated, and held accountable for their work performance.
  7. Create and implement professional development plans for team members to foster career growth and improve overall job performance.
  8. Ensure the department meets key performance indicators (KPIs), improve employee retention, and drive continuous improvement in operational performance and regulatory compliance.

  6. Maintains practical knowledge of mechanical systems and DOT regulations to oversee vehicle maintenance and support technician readiness.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • In office environment with occasional visits to local job sites.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

 

PLANNED BUSINESS TRAVEL 

  • This job requires at least 10% planned business travel.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred. 
  • 5 years of experience in a related field as an individual contributor. 
  • Combining experience in customer service or operation practices of 5 or more years with education is desirable.
  • Previous leadership experience is required.

 

COMPENSATION

This compensation information is a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage range that DuraServ reasonably expects to pay upon hire, and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Similar positions located outside of a covered jurisdiction may not necessarily receive the same compensation. The anticipated compensation range for this role is $86,000.00 to $110,000.00 plus bonus potential and a company vehicle, and reflects the range DuraServ expects to pay at the time of hire, based on factors including geographic market, skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
